Next Screening: “Projects of Summertime” (Friday, July 1, 2011)

July 1, 2010 8:00 pmtoJuly 1, 2011 11:00 pm

For the second July in a row, the Great Wall will be screening a collection of awe-inspiring films entitled “Projects of Summertime”. As the title suggests, these short documentary-style shorts capture the creative, whimsical, fantastic and far-out projects people find the time to do when the whole world slows down for the blissful summer months.

In this hour-long show, there’s something for everyone – from DIY projects like couture knitting to thrill-chasing sports like free running – don’t miss out!

What are a hoolahooper, a pair of kissing lovers and a fantastic rolling eyeball all doing in the same show, you ask?

To find out, you’ll have to check out the Great Wall’s February show, “Connected”. Don’t worry – it’s not a Valentine’s Day show, so the eyeball won’t be kissing anyone!

2010 was an incredible year for the Wall. In addition to screening the cutting-edge digital artworks and films from over 90 artists in 17 countries around the world, we also co-produced a show with the Oakland Museum of California, hosted the internationally-recognized aerial dance troupe, Project Bandaloop, screened the personal projects of 10 very talented neighbors at Pixar Animation Studios. Whew!

Thanks to all the artists who helped make 2010 rock.

We’ll be back in February, 2011 with more mind-blowing, large-scale video projection.

Happy holidays!
