It’s time for our “Exquisite Corpse” showing on the Great Wall of Oakland.
In case you’re not familiar or missed last year’s show with the same theme, “Exquisite Corpse” refers the parlor game the Surealists used to expand their creative capacity. One artist would start with a sketch, fold up the paper leaving only a bit of the drawing visible and pass it to the next artist who would continue the drawing (see “Nude” to the right).
The Great Wall’s curators have expanded upon this idea by stringing together several disparate, but outstanding, video pieces by finding a visual thread that links the before and after.
